Amid reports of large-scale fraud and rigging, the White House has maintained that the August 20 presidential and provincial elections were historic.
The White House on Thursday insisted that United States President Barack Obama is a Christian and his faith is not a topic of conversation, a day after a poll showed that nearly 18 per cent of Americans think he is a Muslim.
The people who planned and executed the 9/11 attack are still operating in the area and plotting attack against the United States, the White House today said, adding this is the reason why America continues to be in Afghanistan.
"Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is a murderous thug who has admitted to some of the most heinous crimes ever committed against our country. And the (US) President is committed to seeing that he's brought to justice," said the White House Deputy Press Secretary Bill Burton. US President Barack Obama, agrees with the attorney general's opinion that Khalid Sheikh Mohammad and others can be litigated successfully and securely in the US, just like others have, like Richard Reid.
United States President Barack Obama has no plans to travel to Pakistan when he visits India and other Asian nations in November this year.
